Dissipative dark matter and the Andromeda plane of satellites
We show that dissipative dark matter can potentially explain the large observed mass to light ratio of the dwarf satellite galaxies that have been observed in the recently identified planar structure around Andromeda, which are thought to result from tidal forces during a galaxy merger. Whereas dwarf galaxies created from ordinary disks would be dark matter poor, dark matter inside the galactic...
متن کاملCollocation Assessment between GEO and GSO Satellites
The change in orbit evolution between collocated satellites (X, Y) inside +/-0.09° E/W and +/0.07° N/S cluster, after one of these satellites is placed in an inclined orbit (satellite X) and the effect of this change in the collocation safety inside the cluster window has been studied and evaluated. Several collocation scenarios had been studied in order to adjust the location of both satellite...
متن کاملDissipative Van der Waals interaction between a small particle and a metal surface
We use a general theory of the fluctuating electromagnetic field to calculate the friction force acting on a small neutral particle, e.g., a physisorbed molecule, or a nanoscale object with arbitrary dispersive and absorptive di-electric properties, moving near a metal surface. We consider the dependence of the electromagnetic friction on the temperature T , the separation d, and discuss the ro...
متن کاملCasimir Energy and Entropy between Dissipative Mirrors
We discuss the Casimir effect between two identical, parallel slabs, emphasizing the role of dissipation and temperature. Starting from quite general assumptions, we analyze the behavior of the Casimir entropy in the limit T → 0 and link it to the behavior of the slab’s reflection coefficients at low frequencies. We also derive a formula in terms of a sum over modes, valid for dissipative slabs...
متن کاملLong-range interaction and synchronization of oscillating dissipative solitons.
We study the interaction of well-separated oscillating localized structures (oscillons). We show that oscillons emit weakly decaying dispersive waves, which lead to the formation of bound states due to harmonic synchronization. We also show that in optical applications the Andronov-Hopf bifurcation of stationary localized structures leads to a drastic increase in their interaction strength.
